The Ecopoet ethos looks for convergence between evidence, ecology, imagination, wellbeing, and cooperative problem-solving. We can open new spaces for understanding and communication, by recalibrating structures that impose unacceptable risk and widespread injustice.

Ecology is the constructive interaction of competing and converging forces in Nature. It is the relational substance of life on Earth, the dynamics of the biosphere, and the layers of interactive redundancy that allow for intelligent solutions to evolve, over time. Ecology is health and resilience in the natural world.

The poet opens new space in language, so the reader can explore new neural pathways for explaining and understanding emotion, spirit, adversity, and the cosmic good fortune that we exist, that we are alive, and that we are aware of it all.

Attention is sacred, because it allows for openness to new information, fosters interpersonal connection, and translates evidence of the physical condition of the world into conscious understanding. Reporting asks the reader to give sacred attention to the stuff of our world.

Every publication that asks this of you has been built around intentional editorial choices—to honor your sacred attention, to trigger it, to leverage it, or to turn it into a marketable commodity. Clickbait and tabloid sensationalism, political extremism and hatemongering deplete our constructive intentions, by demanding attention and giving nothing of value back.

We live in a world that often makes meaning around us, and for us, without our advice or consent. How we respond, how we open up the space for a more humanizing experience, shapes what is possible. We can move from exploitation to elevation of the human condition.

Why ‘Ecopoet’? Because everything matters.
